What’s New in Atlas.md? We’re Showing, Not Telling.

You’ve texted a patient just to see how they’re doing, right? That’s a really small thing for you to do, but it’s a really big deal to your patient. That seemingly insignificant action shows them how much you care. Proves they’re on your mind, and that when you say you want a meaningful relationship with them — you really mean it.

What’s New in Atlas?

Friendly Tax Tracking for Inventory
Need to pay for taxes separately for each item in your inventory? Now Atlas handles that for you so it’s one less thing you have to worry about. You’re welcome.

SMS Dashboard Widget
Now you can respond to SMS messages right from your dashboard or the patient’s chart without ever picking up your phone. We support communication however it’s easiest for you!

Importer for Lab Prices
You can already customize lab prices, but now you can upload your carefully negotiated prices in one fell swoop with our new lab prices importer tool. Learn how it all works here.

More Control over Bulk Emails
Now you can review, edit and even cancel bulk emails you’ve already scheduled to distribute. Things change, right? We know.

Export List of Patients Sent to Collections
Now you can export a full list of patients who have been added to collections right from the billing page. Freshen up on all things patient billing over here!

Heads Up On Pre-Paid Cards
Pre-paid cards can be deceptive. Even when they get approved, funds can run out a day later. We’ve added a flag to pre-paid cards so you can be more proactive in your process of receiving immediate payment.

Send Invoice Emails to Multiple Addresses
If you’ve ever needed to send an invoice email to a patient and a company… now you can. Just separate the email addresses by semicolon and you’re good to go.

To simplify the workflow for many of you, we’re adding instructions to the medications sidebar. The information you want, where you want it.

Email Note Attachments
Want to email a file that’s been uploaded to the patient’s chart? Now you can with just a few clicks. Mic drop.

New Macro Alert!
Enter #ins to enter the insurance information listed for the head of household associated with your patient.

Option for Credit Receipt
Now when you add a credit or write-off to your patient’s account, they’ll know about it because you can email them about it.

New SMS Notification for Custom Faxes and More Details on SMS Notifications for Rx Faxes
Double whammy alert. You can already choose to send SMS notifications on prescription faxes, but now you can do the same for custom faxes. Read the details over here. Oh, and now the text you send your patient when their prescription has been sent includes the location of the pharmacy. It’s the little things.

A Closer, Different Look at Inventory
If you’re the admin of your account, you can see who’s responsible for the inventory, update the default price markup, default tax percentage for NDC items, and default tax percentage for Non-NDC items — all from the inventory page.

What’s New in Atlas.md? Workflow Adaptation!

The list is getting longer – and more comprehensive… just like you like it. Oh, and did you know? You can use macros in the files inbox note when assigning it to a patient’s chart. Also, gender is included in the demographics macro #demo now. And finally, your #vitals values will include your latest additions! Review the full list of macros over here.

Importing and Exporting Patient Information

Atlas’ patient importer tool now lets you specify branch location. The exporter tool puts your patient charts in nice tidy files outside the EMR, and can even help you easily review and track your subscriptions. Best of both worlds.

We’ve been thinking a lot about accessibility lately. It’s a really big part of Direct Care: you want to be available for your patients when they need you… and how they need you. Atlas.md already lets you communicate via email, phone, text, and Twitter DM. All great options. But we went bigger. Clearer. Announcing video calls!

That’s not all we have up our sleeve this time, though. We’re also introducing a directory of contacts, fully flexible office hours set up, intuitive automated emails to patients about expiring credit cards and more. Let’s go!

You know how we’re always working to improve the performance of Atlas? We targeted an area of improvement we think you’ll be happy about. Heads up! That’s what Atlas will be saying when you enter a non-NDC item with a SKU that’s already in your inventory. In the form of a friendly notice about which other items are in your stock with that same SKU, we’ll help you easily review (and avoid!) mistakes made by conflicting SKUs.

Set Auto-Charge Date When Adding Patients

Now when you manually add a patient, you can select the exact date you’d like to charge them each month. Boom. It’s that easy.

What’s New in Atlas.md? A Peek Under the Hood.

Atlas.md is growing. Fast. To keep up with all the movement, we like to spend some extra time behind the scenes to make sure the features you use the most are in tip-top shape. So even though most of the feature improvements you’ll read about below aren’t visible up front, you can rest easy knowing things are humming right along beneath the surface. Let’s go.

Database Optimization
We’re always maintaining database optimization, but this time we took an extra long peek under the hood. As databases get bigger (read: more patient, drugs and general metadata is stored) they also tend to get sluggish from having to crunch all thatDATABASE additional info. Two things become super important to maintain a smooth ride at that point: targeted indexing and efficient querying. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know what those things mean to understand how we improved them: we found all the spots that could possibly act as a bottleneck and we set out to prevent slowness from happening in the first place.

This was fairly simple in most cases – we just stepped outside the box and approached things from a different angle. But it wasn’t all fun and games. Imagine a set of data likened to a tired and cranky five year old. This data required special attention from a dedicated server to make it happy. So we obliged. And once it got its desired one-on-one attention it performed beautifully, smiling and giving instantaneous results in most cases. So there you have it. The most crucial searchable data in Atlas.md now have their own special room with their own special toys where they happily sit and wait to be used by you.

A Brighter Future for Mailboxes
mailboxA few years ago when we developed the Mailbox integration (reminder: that thing where you connect your mailbox to Atlas.md so it can smartly read your relevant emails and effortlessly keep you connected to your patients) we had no idea if it would be a hit or not. So we took a leap of faith, and we’re glad we did – it’s one of the most widely-used features of Atlas.md. Fast forward to today, and it’s time to future-proof the process, which means going back to the drawing board and finding a new and better way to connect, fetch and parse data given the Mailbox’s blatant popularity. This is a tall order, so we broke it up into smaller pieces. To kick things off in Phase One, we’re making sure everyone’s mailboxes are checked and messages are fetched more regularly and consistently. Plus, it’s taking less effort from our server to do so. Now that’s what we call setting a strong foundation.

Outgoing Emails Get Some Attention, Too
checkboxesWe’ve always relied on Amazon Web Services SES to help deliver your emails to patients. It’s a really big part of why Atlas works in reaching so many people every day. Remember when you had to verify your email address before it would work? We’ve integrated Amazon Web Services even deeper into the EMR so you don’t have to prove you’re you anymore… we’ll just know. Bonus: this makes us even more compliant with anti-spam rules. If you’re all about the details, that means all emails sent out by Atlas are now fully SPF (no, not the sunscreen), DKIM and DMARC (do these sound like entertainers to anyone else?) compatible. This alphabet soup tastes like the three most important spam control protocols in effect for modern emailing, and we think that’s delicious.

Don’t Forget The Stuff You Can See!
So far we’ve talked about invisible updates, but there are a couple you’ll notice on the front end, too. For example, Atlas.md now supports multiple credit cards for companies whereas before only patients were graced with this feature. Oh, and now you can send your patients a welcome email even if you enroll them manually. We’re not leaving anyone out!

A few new buttons go a long, long way in the latest feature release. Now you can do things like run a full report of earnings per doctor, export your inventory to CSV, and send shipping tracking information to your patients via email or SMS. We’d say the EMR just got a whole lot cooler, wouldn’t you?

Billing Report: View Charges by Type and Per Physician
Now when you’re pulling your monthly reports, you’ll have another helpful metric to analyze. The newest feature is the “Earnings per Doctor” report in Billing Reports, which does exactly what it says. This detailed report will break down each doctor in the clinic’s earnings into the following categories: subscriptions, labs, prescriptions, misc, shipping and total earnings. Just one more way to help you understand your clinic a little better. Inventory: Export to CSV Button
We know each clinic works differently, which is why we’re giving you more flexibility when it comes to managing your inventory. With this new Export to CSV feature, you can export your inventory as a CSV to be easily read by Excel or any other spreadsheet application. Here’s how. Read more

ACH Is Here and It’s Easier Than Ever To Accept Payments

There’s a new way to accept payments through Atlas, and it’s going to make things even better for you and your patients. We’re excited to announce the launch of Atlas.md’s ACH acceptance.

Here’s the scoop. By now you know that you can accept credit and debit payments. And that’s been great. But ACH is a way for you to accept payments directly from your customers’ bank accounts. If you remember, back in November, we lowered your transaction payments from 2.5% to 2.1%, but this new addition makes it even cheaper to accept payments from your patients.

The cool thing about ACH (besides the convenience) is that the charge per transaction is only going to be 25¢, which is less than the current 2.1% + 30¢ per transaction for credit/debit card payments. While it does take about 7 days for your patients’ funds to go through, this can add a bit more flexibility to your payment acceptance options.

Accept Multiple Types of Payment

ACH acceptance is a win-win: it lets your patients send money directly from their bank, so they have less to worry about, and it allows your clinic to accept payments without paying high transaction fees. And it’s a win-win that includes no learning curve.

To accept ACH payments, just follow some simple instructions:

  • Go to the patient billing page, and then add a new bank account.
  • Enter your patient’s name, account number, and routing number.
  • You’ll receive a confirmation message that the bank account has been added and needs to be verified.
  • The customer will get an email with details about the process and a link that they can use to complete the verification.

What’s New in the Atlas.md EMR?

This December we’re giving the gift of convenience – for both you and your patients. New features include the ability to store multiple credit cards per patient, the ability to set custom default appointment duration times, new and easy ways to share patient data, and even a new pharmacy user. Here’s a complete rundown of the new features you’ll find in the EMR:

Manage Multiple Credit Cards Per Patient
Now you can add and manage multiple credit cards in your patient’s billing profile. This means you (and they!) can choose which card to use to make payments inside the EMR and through the Patient Access App. Get the details over here.

Need to share some information but don’t want to send the whole chart? We hear you. Sharing is easier than ever with the new Patient Sharing Hub. Share only the information you need via email, download or print. Learn how here.

New Appointment Duration Options

Patient Enrollment Now Available in Spanish

Search by Patient DOB
Now you can find patients by entering their DOB in the Atlas.md EMR search field. This is particularly useful if you have partial data for a patient. So enter their birthday in any format you can imagine, and get on with your day.

Search by NDC in Your Dispense History
We’re thinking of you and your many habits here, which is why you can now search your dispense history by NDC. That’s right, your clinic, your EMR, your way. Freshen up on how to get there.

Introducing the “Pharmacist” User Role!

Down, Down, Down The Transaction Fees Go…

We did it back in June, and it felt so good that we decided to do it again. That’s right – just in time for the holidays we’ve dropped credit card transaction fees from 2.5% way down to 2.1%. More money in your pocket, right when you need it most!

Remember the days when 3.1% was the norm? You probably didn’t really even notice it… after all, that’s what you’d come to expect. But in dropping it to 2.1%, we’re showing you just how committed we are to helping Direct Primary Care succeed. And just like DPC promotes in every detail of its model, we want the recipients of its care to expect better.

It’s a two-fold result, really. On the one hand, clinics who use the Atlas.md EMR know without a doubt they’re getting the most bang for their buck and that Atlas truly cares about saving money where it counts. And on the other hand, those same clinics are in an even better position to pass the savings on down to their patients. Just like that, everyone wins!

So you see, it’s more than lower numbers. With them come higher expectations and higher satisfaction.

What’s New in the Atlas.md EMR? Multiple Locations!

The Atlas.md EMR has always been poised to scale gracefully alongside your practice, but now we’re stepping things up in a big way.

We’re thrilled to announce the newest feature of the EMR, which fully supports multiple practice locations. We’re talking management of multiple offices, several doctors and staff members, and efficient movement of patients as you transition them from one location to another. You probably won’t notice the launch of this new feature unless you’re opening a new location firsthand. But we’ve taken great care to integrate location-based details throughout the entire EMR if it pertains to you.

Some of the biggest perks of this new feature include assigning doctors to a specific location, which automatically assigns their patients to their location as well. Each location has its own specific inventory, so when you dispense for a particular patient, that action will respect the location the patient is assigned to. But don’t worry, you’re not responsible for remembering all this. We’ve set up prompts and reminders so when you take an action that will affect another location, you’ll know exactly what to do.
