What’s New in Atlas.md? Faxing PDF Attachments, That’s What.

We’ve been excited about releasing this feature for a while now, and we know you’ve been looking forward to it, too. Today we get to share the good news that you can now fax PDF chart attachments right from Atlas.md. We have big plans for expanding this feature’s reach as time goes on; this is juuust the beginning.

So here’s how it works.

When you upload a PDF to a patient’s chart, you’ll now notice a fax icon over to the right. From there, the process is just like you’re used to.

It’s cost-effective, too.

Faxing costs your practice 7 cents per page. Before you send the fax, you’ll see an estimate of your total, so you’ll know exactly what you’re being charged. Full transparency is the name of the game, so you’ll also find your cost included in your clinic’s next subscription billing cycle, using the credit card you already have on file with Atlas.

Let’s talk about file size.

We know you guys are super efficient, so you probably won’t run into a size problem… but just in case we thought we’d mention it. You can fax pretty much anything, as long as it’s under 20 MB, and under 200 pages. Anything bigger or longer than that won’t go through. If it did, we might feel sorry for the guy on the other end of the fax…

So that’s all there is to it! You can now fax PDF attachments from inside Atlas. Now, go play with the new feature. You know you want to.

What’s New in Atlas.md? A Smarter Workflow Wins Every Time.

Smarter Exporting

When you’re sharing patient details, you now have the option to specify the date range for what you’re exporting, printing or emailing. Just select “custom date range” from the date range dropdown and select your start and end dates. Read about it here.

When you’re exporting data for multiple patients you can now include Health Maintenance data in the export. This’ll make it easier to review possible targets for exams, physicals, etc. since you can quickly sort your Excel file by ‘exams’ for example. Get the details over here.

Labs Updates

On the Recent Labs Results dashboard widget, you can now mark a notification as “read,” so only the info that still needs your attention is front and center.

Now you can email out Custom Lab results the same way you can email out other attachment files! Just click the “email” icon when you hover over the note in the stream.

Did you accidentally request a lab wrong? Now you can delete them in Atlas so you can keep a tidy and accurate chart. Deleting the request won’t change anything on the Lab’s end, though – you’ll still need to deal directly with them for anything that might have already been processed.

Macros!

Introducing Shared Macros! Now you can create a macro and share it with everyone else on your account. You can edit an old macro to be sharable moving forward, or create brand new ones to share with the team. Learn how to manage shared macros over here.

It wouldn’t be a features release if we didn’t have a few new macros to talk about, right? We’ve added a new macro for Contacts: #contact, and new macros for patient age and gender: #patientage #patientgender. Review the full list here!

Faxing Updates

Now your real fax numbers displays on the caller ID, which means the pharmacies whose heads explode at the sight of an unfamiliar fax number coming through on prescriptions can rest easy. Does your practice have multiple locations? No problem, the caller ID will respect the location sending the fax.

What’s New in Atlas.md? Making Multiple Locations Work for Your Practice.

Lots of practices have multiple locations, which is fantastic. But each of you are growing a little bit differently, and Atlas wants to account for that.

We’ve added support for more location flexibility so you can run your practice however it works best for you and your patients. We’ll run through the details so you can get back to it.

Inventory Selection Flexibility

Now when you write a new prescription, you can choose from which location’s inventory you’re dispensing. Pretty great, right?

So if you’re a doctor who floats between branches and you find yourself dispensing from one location today and another tomorrow, now you can accurately dispense from the correct location no matter where you are.

That goes for patients, too! If you encourage patients to go to whichever branch location is more convenient for them, you can dispense from whichever location they choose. This added flexibility makes properly managing inventory more convenient for you. Read more

Want to Integrate Atlas.md With Your Favorite Lab? All it Takes is an Email.

It’s official. Atlas.md is putting the choice of who you use as your lab provider back in your hands.

We’ve partnered with ELLKAY, a company who acts as a go-between for Atlas and other lab providers. Get this. ELLKAY has one of the largest collections of lab integrations in the U.S., making many of them plug and play for Atlas. And for those lab providers ELLKAYhasn’t already integrated with, it may take a little more time, but it’s still totally possible. ELLKAY speeds up the process and even opens the doors for smaller labs to interface directly into Atlas.

Here’s the best part. All your practice needs to do is tell us who you want to integrate with; ELLKAY and Atlas will do the rest. So send an email with your lab’s contact info to support@atlas.md and check it off your todo list.

The choice is yours, and that’s how it should be. Each lab has their own minimum volume level requirements for integration, but if you have a really great relationship with a particular lab provider, Atlas will support you so you can keep working your way.

Atlas.md EMR Update: Fewer Clicks is the Name of the Game.

In this mini-release for the Atlas.md EMR, it’s all about seeings things clearly – and quickly. These new features will help get you where you’re going faster, so you can spend a few extra minutes doing, well, anything else.

Send files from your inbox straight to billing.

When your clinic scans things like insurance forms, payment receipts and checks, now you can assign them straight to the billing section of your patient’s chart from the files inbox. Saves a step, every time.

Better management of read files from your dashboard widget.

Your “Unread SMS Messages” dashboard widget does a great job of letting you know what needs responded to. Now it does an even better job of letting you manage what doesn’t need responded to by letting you manually mark items as “read.”

New dashboard widget for recent lab results.

We didn’t beat around the bush with that title, did we? So there you have it – there’s a new widget for recent lab results. It’s simple as that – if you’re the author of the lab request, or the patient’s primary doctor, your dashboard will give you quick and easy access to the most recent results available to view.

What’s New in Atlas.md? We’re Showing, Not Telling.

NewSite-Image-Wide

You’ve texted a patient just to see how they’re doing, right? That’s a really small thing for you to do, but it’s a really big deal to your patient. That seemingly insignificant action shows them how much you care. Proves they’re on your mind, and that when you say you want a meaningful relationship with them — you really mean it.

It’s the details that matter. So no matter how hard we have to squint or how long it takes us to get it perfect, we’re willing to put forth the effort, because we know it’s the details in these very features that show how much we care about your ability to run your Direct Care practice.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the latest features that we’ve taken time to integrate thoughtfully, test relentlessly and show off shamelessly.

What’s New in Atlas?

Friendly Tax Tracking for Inventory
Need to pay for taxes separately for each item in your inventory? Now Atlas handles that for you so it’s one less thing you have to worry about. You’re welcome.

SMS Dashboard Widget
Now you can respond to SMS messages right from your dashboard or the patient’s chart without ever picking up your phone. We support communication however it’s easiest for you!

Importer for Lab Prices
You can already customize lab prices, but now you can upload your carefully negotiated prices in one fell swoop with our new lab prices importer tool. Learn how it all works here.

More Control over Bulk Emails
Now you can review, edit and even cancel bulk emails you’ve already scheduled to distribute. Things change, right? We know.

Export List of Patients Sent to Collections
Now you can export a full list of patients who have been added to collections right from the billing page. Freshen up on all things patient billing over here!

Heads Up On Pre-Paid Cards
Pre-paid cards can be deceptive. Even when they get approved, funds can run out a day later. We’ve added a flag to pre-paid cards so you can be more proactive in your process of receiving immediate payment.

Send Invoice Emails to Multiple Addresses
If you’ve ever needed to send an invoice email to a patient and a company… now you can. Just separate the email addresses by semicolon and you’re good to go.

Instructions Added to Current Medications Sidebar
To simplify the workflow for many of you, we’re adding instructions to the medications sidebar. The information you want, where you want it.

Email Note Attachments
Want to email a file that’s been uploaded to the patient’s chart? Now you can with just a few clicks. Mic drop.

New Macro Alert!
Enter #ins to enter the insurance information listed for the head of household associated with your patient.

Option for Credit Receipt
Now when you add a credit or write-off to your patient’s account, they’ll know about it because you can email them about it.

New SMS Notification for Custom Faxes and More Details on SMS Notifications for Rx Faxes
Double whammy alert. You can already choose to send SMS notifications on prescription faxes, but now you can do the same for custom faxes. Read the details over here. Oh, and now the text you send your patient when their prescription has been sent includes the location of the pharmacy. It’s the little things.

A Closer, Different Look at Inventory
If you’re the admin of your account, you can see who’s responsible for the inventory, update the default price markup, default tax percentage for NDC items, and default tax percentage for Non-NDC items — all from the inventory page.

What’s New in Atlas.md? Workflow Adaptation!

NewSite-Image-Wide

Healthcare entities can get big. Really big. So big that it can feel truly impossible to navigate the EMR it runs on. You wind up with a massive system where certain departments only use certain pieces of it. And you don’t dare touch those buttons over there for fear of the whole thing imploding. Most EMRs don’t feel natural.

Atlas.md is different. Because it’s built for a special kind of practice that operates on a special kind of business model. Direct Care cuts the red tape that says things are so complicated that they can’t be simplified. Atlas knows there’s a better way. Atlas is the better way.

In this feature release, we’ll show you all the ways Atlas adapts to your workflow. Your EMR is an extension of the work you do. It’s a part of who you are. So let’s dig into how features like note drafts, email attachments, and the ability to waive patient lab fees are going to make your day better.

Chart Drafts Centerchart-drafts

Have to step away from charting to speak to a patient? Take your time; your note will still be there when you get back…whenever that is, and from whatever device you pick it up from! Learn more about the new Draft Center over here.

No Immunizations? Be More Specific, Please.

Refusing a vaccine is a lot different than being allergic to it… and now you can note the details in a free text field on the enrollment form.

Choose Specific Auto-Charge Dates

You’ve always been able to control when your patients are charged for your services, but now you can be even more specific with the options you provide them. Read the details right here.

mass email attachmentEmail Attachments to Mass Emails

Emailing from within Atlas gets fancier with the ability to add attachments to mass emails! Need a refresher on how to email everyone at once? Catch up here.

Billing Attachments

Because your patient information comes in many shapes and sizes, now you can attach files to your billing notes to keep everything organized. Get the details.

Assign Inbox Files as Custom Labs

Labs deserve special treatment, don’t you think? Now you can not only assign them to your patient’s chart from the files inbox, but you can also specify that it’s a custom lab document. Boom.

Waive Patient Lab Fees

If you want to waive the lab fee, now you can do it as you’re ordering the lab instead of manipulating billing later. Learn how over here.

Import and Export Contacts

So many of you love the Directory of Contacts! In its first new feature since launch, you can now import information to your directory, or export the entire thing. Find out how here.

Low or Out of Stock Inventory Notificationlow_inventory_02

When you’re running low, or completely out of stock on inventory, Atlas will let you know before it becomes a problem. Learn how it works here.

Search for non-NDC items by SKU

Now there’s an easier way to search for non-NDC items in your inventory. Yup, by SKU! Catch up on inventory management over here.

New Macros!

The list is getting longer – and more comprehensive… just like you like it. Oh, and did you know? You can use macros in the files inbox note when assigning it to a patient’s chart. Also, gender is included in the demographics macro #demo now. And finally, your #vitals values will include your latest additions! Review the full list of macros over here.

Importing and Exporting Patient Information

Atlas’ patient importer tool now lets you specify branch location. The exporter tool puts your patient charts in nice tidy files outside the EMR, and can even help you easily review and track your subscriptions. Best of both worlds.

What’s New in Atlas.md? Announcing Video Calls!

NewSite-Image-Wide

See It Like You Mean It.

We’ve been thinking a lot about accessibility lately. It’s a really big part of Direct Care: you want to be available for your patients when they need you… and how they need you. Atlas.md already lets you communicate via email, phone, text, and Twitter DM. All great options. But we went bigger. Clearer. Announcing video calls!

That’s not all we have up our sleeve this time, though. We’re also introducing a directory of contacts, fully flexible office hours set up, intuitive automated emails to patients about expiring credit cards and more. Let’s go!

VideoCallOutbound Video Calls

Now when your patient cuts her hand 3 hours away from home, you can get a great visual (literally) before telling her to hightail it to the nearest ER, or walking her through how to take care of it herself. Now that’s service. Get all the juicy details on making outbound video calls over here.

 Performance-Oriented Tweaks to Prescriptions

You know how we’re always working to improve the performance of Atlas? We targeted an area of improvement we think you’ll be happy about. Sure, it’s a behind-the-scenes update, but one you’ll definitely notice. We re-engineered the drug database search so you can prescribe faster and get instantaneous results for any drugs you need!

Directory of Contacts

Keeping your team’s third party contact information in one place makes sense, right? We thought so, too. Store them in Atlas.md, be a stronger team because of it. Psst. You’ll probably find this pretty helpful when faxing, too! Learn more.

Flexible Office Hours per UserFlexible-Hours (1)

Each user can set their own office hours. So now you have complete control over which phone number Atlas forwards calls to while you’re away. Learn about the change here.

Smarter Inventory SKU Input

Heads up! That’s what Atlas will be saying when you enter a non-NDC item with a SKU that’s already in your inventory. In the form of a friendly notice about which other items are in your stock with that same SKU, we’ll help you easily review (and avoid!) mistakes made by conflicting SKUs.

Set Auto-Charge Date When Adding Patients

Now when you manually add a patient, you can select the exact date you’d like to charge them each month. Boom. It’s that easy.

NotificationsAutomated CC Expiration Notifications to Patients

If Atlas notices a patient’s payment information is about to expire, or there might be an issue with their payment method for the next billing cycle, we’ll send a friendly reminder to them so they can investigate. Find out what’s in the email here.

Fitness/Vitals Custom Date Ranges

Now you can view reports based on a custom time range you select. Details, details, details!

Multiple Daily Entries for Vitals and Stats

Have a blood pressure re-reading you need to enter for a patient? No problem, now you can add multiple entries per day. Get the details here.

What’s New in Atlas.md? A Peek Under the Hood.

AtlasBlogImage01-3

Atlas.md is growing. Fast. To keep up with all the movement, we like to spend some extra time behind the scenes to make sure the features you use the most are in tip-top shape. So even though most of the feature improvements you’ll read about below aren’t visible up front, you can rest easy knowing things are humming right along beneath the surface. Let’s go.

Database Optimization
We’re always maintaining database optimization, but this time we took an extra long peek under the hood. As databases get bigger (read: more patient, drugs and general metadata is stored) they also tend to get sluggish from having to crunch all thatDATABASE additional info. Two things become super important to maintain a smooth ride at that point: targeted indexing and efficient querying. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know what those things mean to understand how we improved them: we found all the spots that could possibly act as a bottleneck and we set out to prevent slowness from happening in the first place.

This was fairly simple in most cases – we just stepped outside the box and approached things from a different angle. But it wasn’t all fun and games. Imagine a set of data likened to a tired and cranky five year old. This data required special attention from a dedicated server to make it happy. So we obliged. And once it got its desired one-on-one attention it performed beautifully, smiling and giving instantaneous results in most cases. So there you have it. The most crucial searchable data in Atlas.md now have their own special room with their own special toys where they happily sit and wait to be used by you.

A Brighter Future for Mailboxes
mailboxA few years ago when we developed the Mailbox integration (reminder: that thing where you connect your mailbox to Atlas.md so it can smartly read your relevant emails and effortlessly keep you connected to your patients) we had no idea if it would be a hit or not. So we took a leap of faith, and we’re glad we did – it’s one of the most widely-used features of Atlas.md. Fast forward to today, and it’s time to future-proof the process, which means going back to the drawing board and finding a new and better way to connect, fetch and parse data given the Mailbox’s blatant popularity. This is a tall order, so we broke it up into smaller pieces. To kick things off in Phase One, we’re making sure everyone’s mailboxes are checked and messages are fetched more regularly and consistently. Plus, it’s taking less effort from our server to do so. Now that’s what we call setting a strong foundation.

Outgoing Emails Get Some Attention, Too
checkboxesWe’ve always relied on Amazon Web Services SES to help deliver your emails to patients. It’s a really big part of why Atlas works in reaching so many people every day. Remember when you had to verify your email address before it would work? We’ve integrated Amazon Web Services even deeper into the EMR so you don’t have to prove you’re you anymore… we’ll just know. Bonus: this makes us even more compliant with anti-spam rules. If you’re all about the details, that means all emails sent out by Atlas are now fully SPF (no, not the sunscreen), DKIM and DMARC (do these sound like entertainers to anyone else?) compatible. This alphabet soup tastes like the three most important spam control protocols in effect for modern emailing, and we think that’s delicious.

Don’t Forget The Stuff You Can See!
So far we’ve talked about invisible updates, but there are a couple you’ll notice on the front end, too. For example, Atlas.md now supports multiple credit cards for companies whereas before only patients were graced with this feature. Oh, and now you can send your patients a welcome email even if you enroll them manually. We’re not leaving anyone out!

What’s New in Atlas.md?

AtlasBlogImage01-3

A few new buttons go a long, long way in the latest feature release. Now you can do things like run a full report of earnings per doctor, export your inventory to CSV, and send shipping tracking information to your patients via email or SMS. We’d say the EMR just got a whole lot cooler, wouldn’t you?

Billing Report: View Charges by Type and Per Physician
Now when you’re pulling your monthly reports, you’ll have another helpful metric to analyze. The newest feature is the “Earnings per Doctor” report in Billing Reports, which does exactly what it says. This detailed report will break down each doctor in the clinic’s earnings into the following categories: subscriptions, labs, prescriptions, misc, shipping and total earnings. Just one more way to help you understand your clinic a little better. Read more about billing reports over here.

Inventory: Export to CSV Button
We know each clinic works differently, which is why we’re giving you more flexibility when it comes to managing your inventory. With this new Export to CSV feature, you can export your inventory as a CSV to be easily read by Excel or any other spreadsheet application. Here’s how. Read more
